Tools & Implements
de Young Museum residency and exhibition, 2017
Installation of deceptive objects included various traps and lures, a three-channel video (Fool), blacklight bug zappers, and decoys created in collaboration with museum visitors. The exhibition title refers to the museum’s “Object Type” classification of “Tool or Implement” that refers to works in the collection that previously performed a utilitarian function, but now function solely as works of art (e.g. combs, chairs, knives, religious objects, etc.).
