Idée Fixe (Monument)
medical plaster bandages, white gypsum cement, 2017
"Idée Fixe" is a French term that in music and literature was used to describe a theme expressed repeatedly, with or without variation. The term was later used in psychology to refer to a preoccupation of the mind or an irrational obsession. The sculptural works in this series attempt to "fix" broken statue limbs, a futile gesture applied to a neoclassical form.
