Responding to compositions by William Wegman with his dogs, Commissioned (After W.W.) is an exploration of portraiture, training, and attempts to control nature. A pet rabbit is repeatedly placed on a wooden box, in order to ‘sit’ for a portrait. Against its nature, the animal eventually learns that it is expected to remain still on the pedestal.
